The whole school took part in a ‘CLEAN UP’ of the surrounding school environment today Friday 12th June. The children have been working really hard to try and achieve the Green Flag for Boston N.S. We are now recycling  and reusing as much as possible, as well as ensuring the environment is litter free.

The children of Boston N.S. were fortunate to be asked by the Burren Beo Trust to meet Prince Charles yesterday 19-05-15 near Carron. Two children from Boston N.S. were chosen that had recently graduated from Eco Beo. The Senior room completed projects on World War 2, Egypt,the Pyramids and Volcanoes.Some children made posters, others constructed scrap books and one child made a fantastic powerpoint on Volcanoes. WELL DONE! The children learned many new interesting facts and presented their projects to the class.

The children in the junior room were learning about forces in Science this week. The main focus was on the force of wind and how it can generate electricity through wind turbines. Each child got the chance to make their own wind turbine and test it out by blowing on them. This showed the children the effect wind has on wind turbines and how they work.

This week the junior room have being learning about Springtime, the farm and machinery/jobs that used to be done long ago compared to now. The children got to see how butter was made long along using a churn and then they got the chance to invent their own churn using a glass jar and make their own butter and buttermilk using just cream.

Ms. Lee’s class prepared and presented powerpoints on topics such as Thomas Edison, Magnetism, The Stone Age, Christopher Columbus, Rocks including information on the Burren and Ireland.

The Junior Classroom learned about Static Electricity this week. They got the opportunity to work in groups to experiment and observe the effects static electricity has on paper, hair, aluminium cans and much more using balloons.
